If you were watching the national news or MSNBC tonight you now know why in A MORE PERFECT DEMOCRACY: MODERNIZING THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION FOR THE 21ST CENTURY on page 79 Section 5: Powers Not Given to the President I suggest the following change “The President shall not have the power to pardon persons accused or convicted of any crime, since the proper venue for judicial decisions shall be in the powers of Article III.”

The pardoning power in the hands of a politician or any one person is an invitation for corruption and misuse. Pardons might be sold, given as rewards for performing illegal acts like the insurrection of 5 January 2021, or to gain the loyalty and services of criminals. Currently I am waiting to see how short a time will pass before the Proud Boys and similar groups are solicited to become 21st century Brown Shirts. For the younger generation a Brown Shirt in Nazi Germany worked as a thug for Adolph Hitler attaching and wrecking jewish owned shops , businesses and any news media that were considered hostile to the Nazis.The free press disappeared. The attacks, chaos and fear created by Hitler’s Brown Shirts and SS security police gave him the excuse to invoke the equivalent of our Marshall Law and Insurrection Act. Property was seized, Jews arrested and sent to concentration camps as forced labor and eventually the holocaust killing of 6,000,000 jews and 3,000,000 non-jews (do not forget them because that could be you next time).

Will the Proud Boys become America’sBrown shirts? Only time will tell. If I were asked to bet on it, I would think that the odds are better than 50/50. Even if that doesn’t happen and I hope that is the future, why does any politician elected or appointed to government or an official position need to have pardoning power? A judge and jury found that the person guilty so a Parole Board of citizens should decide subject to the approval of a judge if parole, pardon or acquittal is warranted based on behavior, demonstrated remorse or new evidence justify the change in criminal status.

I have not seen evidence that the behavior or remorse necessary has been manifested by all 1600 pardoned or commuted today for trying to overthrow our democracy or inflicting injury on officers of the law performing their expected lawful enforcement of the law and protection of our representatives in Congress.

I fear that this is only the beginning of misdeeds or poor decisions at the top. When the “illegal” refugees who came into our country to tend to and pick our crops bent over all day in the hot sun, or collect and sort through our discards and foul smelling garbage for recycling, or care for our incontinent parents and other victims of Alzheimers and Senile Dementia are gathered for deportation who will assume these unpleasant tasks. You? Me? Not likely. We will then have to buy even more imported foods. Oh yes, that means these items will have an additional tariff added to the price. A tax not on the foreign seller but on the American importer who will pass it on to you and me as a HIGHER price. I thought #47 said when he was campaigning for your vote that he would LOWER food prices. You believed him?

When #47 tries to send them back to Venezuela, Columbia, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, and Cuba what will happen if those countries won’t take them back? I wouldn’t if I was the leader of any of those countries, Why would they want back people who were so afraid of the government and crime that the left the only home that they had even known to try to find freedom and safety in the USA.

Imagine you're an immigration officer, soldier or National Guard member at the Mexican border. Lined up in front of you are 250 illegal aliens and discarded Dreamers. As you march them to the border 200 Mexican soldiers and police show up on the other side and begin firing their weapons of war in the air but gradually lowering their bullets. What would you do? Help kill the refugees because #47 gave orders as the Commander-in-Chief and his supporters want them ejected.

Imagine that you are the pilot of a plane chartered to fly them to Mexico City or Havana and as you approach the airfield the air traffic controller says the government has denied you permission to land. What will you do, return to Miami with a full load, dump them in the Caribbean or kill everyone by crashing into a mountain after you parachute out? Are you that inhumane, cruel and immoral.

When #47 finds out that there is nowhere that will take them, what will he do? Probably build internment labor camps. Maintaining these will become a drag on the economy, Then what?

Starvation like Gaza? Ovens like Auschwitz? God forbid we should ever see that day.

Is it too late to reverse directions and go back to the prosperous Biden years. Did you just say you don’t want the lower inflation, increased housing, and new buyer subsidies Kamala Harris was promising because the price of eggs and milk were to high?

Is it really to late? Never if you are willing to take positive peaceful action to modernize the Constitution so the exploited areas are fixed and the People Pass a Modernized Constitution and tell citizens who don’t agree that they are welcome to leave.
